Welkom bij Ruimtetijdperk: Jupiter-Maan! Mensen hebben een nieuw exotisch gen gevonden op Jupiter-Maan. Het heeft daar de afgelopen miljoen jaar gelegen. Dit gen zou mensen kunnen helpen om te overleven in een gevaarlijkere omgeving en zou de problemen met straling in de ruimte kunnen tegengaan. Enige probleem: de genen moeten wel getest, verfijnd en aangepast worden. Omdat ze extreem kwetsbaar zijn, moeten mensen ze nu op de maan zelf testen. Proefpersonen: eerst planten, dan dieren, dan mensen. Het gen voegt in het begin (tijdens het testen) bio-luminescente attributen toe. De mensheid heeft gezegevierd over energie, transport en voeding. Kosmische straling en elektromagnetische straling belemmeren echter de verkenningsmogelijkheden. De waterige levensvormen hebben weerstand ontwikkeld tegen harde kosmische golven en straling in de vorm van een bioluminescente beschermende laag.
